Methods: Patients with chronic and annoying symptoms of emptied, combined with uronormal flow were treated with 0.2 mg tamsulosin daily for six weeks. Results analysis included the score of the symptom of the international prostate and the uroflowmetry with residual urine after vomiting. Patients who achieve a reduction of 50% or greater in their symptom score of emptied, combined with an increase of 30% or greater in their maximum flow rate were considered to have a good therapeutic response. The subgroup analysis was performed in patients classified as bladder output obstruction, or destructive subactivity based on the pressure flow study, excluding those with intermittent abode catheterization or autocateterization, as well as those with anatomical obstruction. Results: Ninety-seven patients met the inclusion criteria for the study and were registered. Significant improvements were observed in the score of vaciate symptoms, the score of the symptoms of storage, the maximum rate of flow, the residual urine after vertex and the efficiency of emptied in all patients while in the tamsulosin. A good therapeutic response was observed in 35.1% of patients. Of these, 33 were classified as bladder outlet obstruction and 52 had destructive subactivity. Although both groups experienced a significant reduction in their emptied symptom scores, patients with bladder output obstruction were more likely to achieve a reduction in their symptom score. The magnitude of the improvement of the uro flow parameters, as well as the proportion of patients who achieve a good therapeutic response (39.4% for bladder output obstruction vs 32.7% for destroyer subactivity, P = .69) were similar between the two groups. The adverse events were mild and tolerable. Conclusions: Tamsulosin has beneficial effects in a significant proportion of women with impaired emptied. In recent years, several randomized controlled trials (RCT) have reported clinical efficacy and the safety of tamsulosin for LUTS in women. Therefore, the objective of this study was to perform a meta-analysis to assess the safety and effectiveness of tamsulosin in the treatment of LUTS in women, which can resolve some of the current disputes about the use of the drug and provide more reliable evidence for the use of tamsulosin. A bibliographic review was conducted to identify all published tamsulosin RCTs for the treatment of LUTS in women. The search included the following databases: PUBMED, EMBASE, the Cochrane Controlled Tracking Registry of Controlled Judgments, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technical Data Database (VIP) and Wanfang Database. A systematic review and meta-analysis were carried out. The analysis included six RCT studies involving 764 women. Four of the six RCTs compared tamsulosin with placebo, a RCT compared tamsulosin with prazosin and the other study compared tamsulosin with tamsulosin combined with tolterodine.
